So after attempting to do homework and failing miserably (falling asleep) I thought I would take a break and post some pictures of my dorm. Or what my roommate last year liked to call a "glorified jail cell." I have no problem with it, I like my dorm just fine.
Dresser. I was told it's way too cluttered? Come on... pick up my shoes, it'd be perfect. Ok, maybe it is a tad bit cluttered. *sigh*

Here I am majorly slacking on this again. But sometimes I wonder if I am ever going to get caught up on sleep. And last night was just not a good night... way emotional and yeah. But I'm heading home this weekend... hoping to get some sleep, but I'm really not seeing that happen at all... what with having to go to the football game and then the CC meet.
And I am really thinking hard about changing my major. Which you guys know since you all read mom's blog. But I've been thinking what I really want to do is work with kids... so why the heck am I an English major? And I don't know, a lot of the plans that I thought were going to happen... I don't think they're going to.
And stolen from Valerie and Mom... since I have some time to kill before lunch.
who are you: Allison
where you live: La X :)
how old: 20.
your favorite -
job: I've only had one. The nursing home... working as a Kitchen Assistant. And as much as I complained about it... I really did like it.
food: Hmmm. That's a toughie. Any kind of chicken is AMAZING.
tv: America's Next Top Model... the Hills... the OC. Wow. Somehow I never pictured myself watching those shoes.
song: Allison by Permanent Me. I'm sure you can guess why.
meal: Brunch at Mama Whitney :)
memory from childhood: Not having to worry about a thing.
good student? Was in high school.. not so much in college... but I get by.
bike or rollerskate - Bike. Rollerskating + Allison = not good.
would you rather...
travel or stay home: Travel. I've never been anywhere before.
paper or plastic: Plastic.
fly or drive: Well I've never flown before... so I guess I'd have to say drive.
snow or surf: Snow!!
what you're good at: Listening... working with kids.
what you wanna be good at: Hm. Sports?

Wow... have I ever been majorly slacking in the Blogging department. So I made it safe and sound back to school, which you guys already knew since you read mom's blog. I am so tired and sore and everything... and ugh. And now we're off to church, I guess... and there's a cookout this afternoon that I should go to, but I really don't care to. But I guess I'd rather go and feel awkward than have people start asking me questions about why I don't want to go anymore. Gah, peer pressure.
Anywho... I guess that's all I have for now. I could really go back to bed... I'm just glad I have tomorrow to sleep in...

Stolen from Valerie, because I really suck at updating this lately. And because I was in high school oh so long ago.
1. Who was your best friend? Hmm. I had a close group of friends. There were 6 of us. But I'd have to say Michelle was my best friend.
2. Did you play any sports? Nahh. I was a Yearbook & 4N6 nerd. I did bowl in a league for all 4 years, but my friends never considered that a sport.
3. What kind of car did you drive? I had a Dodge Spirit, then a Plymouth Breeze.
4. It’s Friday night. Where were you? Football games in the fall. Basketball or wrestling in the winter. And during the spring? Probably at home, or with friends.
5. Were you a party animal? Heck no.
6. Were you considered a flirt? Nah... I don't think so.
7. Were you in the band, orchestra or choir? Band all 4 years. Pit Orchestra. Pep band. Dorain Honors Band. SWAL Honors Band. Middle School Honors Band. I was such a band geek. How'd I get so good without practicing?
8. Were you a nerd? You could consider me that I guess. But I got along with pretty much anyone... except my friends at times.
9. Were you ever suspended or expelled? Nahh.
10. Can you sing the fight song? Heck yes. Even though I was usually playing it: "We're loyal to you Fennimore... We'll ever true Fennimore. We'll back you to stand as the best in the land 'cause we know you are grand Fennimore! U RAH RAH! We're in the fight Fennimore, so show them you're might Fennimore! Our team is our fame protector, onboys team for we expect a victory from you Fennimore! (yeah, they changed boys to team after I learned it. Bad habit I have.)
11. Who was your favorite teacher? Any one of my English teachers. I loved them all.
12. What was your school mascot? Golden Eagle.
13. Did you go to the Prom? All four years. Never had a date, just went with friends.
14. If you could go back, would you? Maybe. Just to do a few things over again.
15. What do you remember most about graduation? My party. And Jordan, the guy I walked with, sniffing our lilies as we were walking out and saying, "Man! These smell like SHIT!" as we walked by, oh, about 20 camcorders.
16. Where were you on Senior Skip Day? Hitting up the Malls in Madtown.
17. Did you have a job your senior year? Dietary Assistant at the Good Sam. As much as I complained about that job, I miss it.
18. Where did you go most often for lunch? School. Unless it was something nasty or during exams. Then I just skipped.
19. Have you gained weight since then? Nope. Lost :D And hoping to lose more.
20. What did you do after graduation? Worked all summer, then off to school.
21. What year did you graduate? 2006.
22. Who was your Senior Prom Date? Well we had Junior prom. But I didn't have a date for either.
23. Are you going/did you go to your 10 year reunion? Probably. So I can be skinny and laugh in all the fatty's wrinkled faces from all their stupid fake baking.
Oops. Did I say that out loud. Silly me.

Wooo Chicago! Amazing. Kayla's friends were wonderful. My time there was definitely short, but way sweet.
Kayla picked me up and then we headed to her place in Madison. The whole reason she was going to Chicago was to drop off a veil that she made for a friend, and it ended up snagging. She had to start it all over again so we chilled (ok. Roasted, her air wasn't working) in her apartment, and finally hit the road at about 6... ending up in Chicago at about 9:30. We met her house group, and they were an amazing bunch of people. Her friend Tricia was super nice, and we talked right away, which isn't an easy thing for me to do. We then went to her friend Emily's apartment to crash... and I think I fell in love. With the apartment I mean. It was an old house with 3 stories, and they lived on the 3rd floor. It was so sweet and little.. and aw.
We woke up about 9 the next morning and Kayla had to finish up the veil. So after a quick stop at Jo-Ann's and a grocery store to pick up some munchies, we headed to Starbucks to get coffee and finish the veil. Mmm I think I'm starting to like coffee. Anyways, we finished the veil. And then I got to experience the L-Train for the first time! That was fun... I ended up doing a lot of waiting for Kayla. She had to take care of some college stuff and some bank stuff. But I got to see where she used to work, and the custom-fit shoe store where I saved her from countless hours of boredom (I would talk to her on MSN when I didn't have class). Then we met up with her ex-boyfriend (I seriously think she was trying to set me up with him, but it's painfully obvious that he still wants her). We floated around lake Michigan for about an hour... then went and got some amazing ice cream, which Larry paid for. Then we had to drive around and find a place to leave the veil, and that took longer than expected.
Finally we were on our way home. We stopped at the Belvedere Oasis and realized that we hadn't taken many pictures, so we figured we better get on that. And we were outside on these tables, at 11 pm taking all these pictures. And a semi driver honked at us, and we were like what the heck? And we realized that he was laughing at us. I'm sure he thought we were drunk!
I learned 2 things. That if I ever decide to move to Chicago, for some strange reason, I'll already have friends there. :) And #2. Don't wear flip flops when you walk all over Downtown Chicago. Can you say Blisters? Ouch.
But I'm home, safe and sound, and hopefully planning another trip soon :D

I'm leaving for Chicago today :) I'm going with my friend who lived there for about a year, and she just recently moved to Madison. She wants to go visit some friends, and she has to deliver a veil that she's made. And since I didn't get the chance to go visit her while she was living down there, she invited me to go along this time.
So I suppose I will have an update when I get home. Time to finish packing :)

I get to babysit for a teeny tiny baby tomorrow! He's about a month old, if that. The most adorable thing ever. He's the new baby brother of the other two I babysat for before... And they all look the same, so adorable.
Nothing new going on really. Still no life... lol. Counting down the days until school starts. Maybe I'll have a cute story to share tomorrow? I'm such a bad blogger... lol.

Soo... I've been a little MIA lately. But, this is my 100th post! And pretty soon it'll be a year since I've started my little college blog. Reading back on some of the entries... wow.
My birthday was good. Thanks to all of you who left me birthday wishes! :) Had to wait a bit for my present, but I love it! A new hair straightener. It's sooo much faster and nicer, and it doesn't fry my hair. I also dyed my hair. I took a picture while we were shopping yesterday, so I will have to see how it looks and then upload it.
Me and Michelle went to Madtown yesterday to go shopping. Then we hunted down my friend Kayla and her new apartment. It's so cute! Makes me want one... but I really don't know if I could live by myself... in that part of town... like she is.
We headed over to Wal-Mart... must have been one of the only non-Super Wal-Marts left! It was sooo busy. Then we went to the mall. I found a new store... Gordmans. They had really cute stuff, and I got a couple of shirts. I ended up only buying shirts yesterday... so I could still use some jeans.
And yeah. It was a long day. But fun. :)

It's Farmkid's Birthday! Like my tanlines? Finally, I get some sun! lol.
Mmmm cake! And my sunglasses from Maria!
So camping was a ton of fun. My friends surprised me with a birthday party on Saturday night, and I had no idea. I got a lot of great presents, but seriously, just spending time with them was a great present :)
I can't believe I turn 20 tomorrow!

Wow. Fewer and fewer posts from Allison. What can I say, my life is boring.
Next week should be fun though. Camping ALLLL week. Monday-Wednesday con mi familia. Then Wednesday-Friday with some friends from home. Then, Friday-Sunday my college girlies are coming! I am soooo excited, I haven't seen any of them since I left school. So I have a feeling today and tomorrow I will be playing some major phone tag with them to try and figure everything out. My friend Melanie asked what I wanted for my birthday. I told her a boyfriend, and she said she would get right on it. I don't know if I trust her... she said she's got a few guys in mind for me... lol.
One night me and my friends were looking at each other's Yearbooks. In my friend Maria's I found a guy wearing a Packer tie. I was like, it's destiny! haha... A Packer fan from Minnesota... dad would approve. Maria said he was cool, but my other friend who went to school said he was a jerk. So, I'm split. Oh well.
10 days til my birthday!

So, I dyed my hair! Ok, no big commitment. As in the stuff that washes out in 6-12 washes. Guess it really didn't turn out how I had hoped... basically it looks the same, until I go outside... then you can see a slightly red tint. *sigh* Maybe red highlights? Michelle's turned out absolutely adorable, so she's going to make it permanent. We'll have to go on another roadtrip again.
Saturday night Isaac decided he wanted to go to Wal-Mart, even though I had been there the night before. So I said sure, it got me out of the house. I know what you're thinking, and no, it was not a date. He's 16 for pete's sake. No. And come on, when I have to pay him for gas? (LOL Valerie!) And pay for my own supper? No, it's not a date. But all I have to say is Mmmmm... Chinese! I was pretty excited when he wanted to go there. And dates don't spray you with Axe and make you smell like a boy :( Oh well. At least I had some extra Bom Chicka Wah Wah.

I am sooo pumped. I get to hang out with Michelle this weekened! Tonight, we're going to make a Wal-Mart run, pretty much just to get out of our houses. And... look at the hair dye. Probably stand there for an hour or so and try to decide if we're brave enough. So we will see... and pictures if I do!
Then Sunday we're going to attempt to climb Castle Rock. Her boyfriend is coming to visit next week, and she wants to take him to it, so we're going to see if we can do it first! Then I get to meet him, and I have given her so much crap that she has a boyfriend and I haven't met him yet. And I guess she's trying to find a friend of his to set me up with... but she doesn't approve of some of them... haha. But yeah.

I feel mucho better. After words of wisdom from my friends, and some amazing e-mails from Valerie... I've gotten over it. Moved on, if you will. And I am going to get him out of my head. Ok, maybe I need a bit more time. But it will happen.
Still no word on the job front. This is getting mighty frustrating. And this is why, unless I am GUARANTEED a job at Milprint next summer, I plan on staying in La Crosse. Maybe I'll be able to find a job I can keep until I graduate. Maybe even after I graduate. Heck, by next summer I might even have my mind made up, and I can take some summer courses and grauduate in 4 years. Sound good? I'd like to stay the class of '10... be nice to graduate with my friends. Although.. being a super senior would be pretty sweet!
Oh, and as of yesterday... one month and counting until the big 2-0!! Soo... whatcha gonna get me?!

Hm yeah I don't think 5 people read this, so whoever wants to.

What were you doing 1 year ago? Just graduated from high school.. getting ready to move away to college. Working at the Good Sam and hanging out with my friends as much as possible before we all had to leave.

Cancer: An amazing offer or deal will come your way today. Consider your options before you agree, but don't feel guilty about taking it.
So that was my horoscope for today, and I just saw it. And today, I got an e-mail from UW-La Crosse saying that my financial aid was ready for next year. And the one grant that I already received went up by $500. And I qualified for 2 more grants... I was so happy I almost cried. There is another loan that I qualified for, although I am considering not taking it, because it is $4000. But I figured it out... if my tuition stays the same and everything... I'll end up with an extra $880 in my pocket... including my scholarship. So I guess I will have to be considering my options.

Well... still on the job hunt (although mom would beg to differ). I've filled out an application for World of Variety (a convenience store) and I ended up calling the Good Sam (the nursing home where I worked last year). And no call from the Good Sam. I suppose they don't want me since I'll work for the summer and quit again, especially since I don't really see myself coming home again next summer. Ah! Not come home? What? Yeah, dropped that bomb shell to Grandma, and let's just say she got this really sad look on her face and said, "Oh Allie." Well, am I really supposed to stay at home forever? I don't think so. I thought I wanted to come back to Fennimore and teach. Maybe I won't. Maybe it is too close to anyone and everyone I've ever known, and I need to get away.
One of my friends who moved to Chicago to go to school for fashion design is moving home. Well, she's moving to Madison anyways, which is closer! But she's one who had to get away from Fennimore, so it really makes me think. I wanted to stay here all my life, that's why I picked La Crosse, I could [fairly] easily make it home in a day, and have most of the weekend. And be close enough to come home and pray that one of my teachers would retire so I could teach English at my high school. But maybe now I'm realizing that I need something different. No, I'm not transferring or going anywhere, I really do love La Crosse and all my friends there. But... should I stick with an English major? Am I really the right person to be a teacher? Sure, everyone tells me that I'm a great people person. Well duh, that's because I already know you. I'm TERRIBLY shy around new people. So shy it almost hurts, and makes everything very awkward.
If I had a wish... it would be that someone would tell me what I'm supposed to do. Is my life going to turn out ok? Am I going to get a decent job? Am I ever going to meet someone? Will I have a family? I know... I'm not even 20 yet. I'm not supposed to ask these kind of questions... but it is really hard not to think about them sometimes.
Wow. I think that might be a record for longest-blog-by-Allison ever. For those 3 of you that read this... well 4 I guess... Dad doesn't comment.
Uff da. I think that sums it all up.

Who knew graduation parties would be so awkward? I couldn't even carry on a 5 minute conversation with the people that I talked to everyday last year. Even seeing one of my best friends... it was just... so... sad? And then my best friend in the whole wide world, I never see her at all anymore. We went to school in the same town, she went to a private university. We didn't get to see each other at all 2nd semester, being only about a 10 minute walk away. I guess we just got busy... but I started staying up later just so we could talk. And I've seen her once since we've both moved home... she's turned into a workaholic. I'm even considering going back to the Good Sam, where she works as a CNA, just so I can see her more... I miss her like crazy.
Is it bad that I get insanely jealous of all these couples around me?

Tonight's graduation. I really can't believe it's been a year since I've graduated. Yeah, yeah, I know only a year, but it seems like so much has happened since then. Making new friends... making it through my freshman year... it's crazy.
So, is $118 too much to spend on a Flat Iron? I dunno. My curly hair is ok... I like it sometimes... it's just that I really like my hair when it's straight. And it takes forever to do it... and I get ticked off at it and give up halfway through... lol.
But yes. I need to quit complaining about such stupid stuff.

Ah, babysitting. I love kids, I really do. The oldest is 3, and let me just say, he loves TV. The 2 year old could care less, and usually keeps me busy wanting to play. Well yesterday, the TV was on, of course, and a Red Robin commercial comes on. He came up to me and started saying, "Blue! Blue! Blue!" And for the life of me I could not figure out why. Then I watched the rest of the commercial and it's the one where the man tries to eat the burger and is sprayed in the face with blue paint. Ah yes, someone does watch a bit too much TV. I tried to turn it off as much as possible to get him to play, but he does throw quite a fit. And it is pretty cute when he sings along with the shows.
Then their mom told me I could make pizza for lunch. When I asked the boys if they wanted pizza for lunch they both said, "ZITZZA! YUM!" They very nicely pointed out where I had to go to get the pizza, then proceeded to repeat "yum" over and over again while it was cooking. Then when it was (finally) done and cool, the oldest followed every bite with, "YUM, Zitzza! Mmmmm." It was the funniest thing in the world.
Finally, I have a cute story to share! :)
Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend.

Yes! My GPA is in... and I got a 3.02 for the semester! Which brought me up to a 2.85! Which means... Allison can apply for the school of education! Ah... I really hope this is what I'm supposed to be doing... I wish I could make up my mind...
I babysat for our neighbors today, and I get to babysit for them again on Friday. 2 adorable boys, 2 and 3. Makes me want a baby. No, not right now! I can wait :P

So I went camping last night. Well, set up a tent in a cow pasture. But camping for me :) My friend Kayla was home from Chicago, so we had some bonding time.

Roughing it... and jamming to tunes!

Now this is really roughing it! Pretty sure at one point we were all texting someone!

Our sustenance for the night.

The all important TP!!

S'mores. Without a campfire.
Then, we did a photoshoot.

Us... white? Really?

So, I am taking donations for the Allison-is-going-to-California fund. Anyone willing to contribute, feel free to let me know.
Ok, back to reality. I've applied at Kwik Trip, and mom has been sending me many suggestions... and there's a couple of camps that I've been looking at. So hopefully I will be able to find something soon, maybe even go back to the nursing home? Ugh. I don't like money.
And what is with all these relationships? Must be spring... seems like everyone (ok, ok maybe not everyone. But at least my 2 best friends!) are hooking up. Ah, not fun for this single girl.
Exactly 2 months until my birthday! The big 2-0! How insane is that?!

Well I made it home. Stupid car... lol. Hopefully I can start saving for one soon.
I'm doing all my laundry today... and I really need to start unpacking stuff. I just don't know where to start, I have so much stuff. And I REALLY would like to get rid of all of these clothes that don't fit me anymore.... but then I really won't have that many clothes left. So I will have to see.
Not much else going on. My friends seem to be MIA... and it kinda sucks. And still waiting on a call from Milprint... so yeah.

$@#!$(% Car. That's all I've got to say. All I ask is for one little drive to Onalaska... but nooo... you can't even do that.
And apparently someone else who lives in this room (although I won't mention any names...) decided that she needed to thaw out the fridge on the HOTTEST FREAKING DAY of the school year. And yes, Allison had Mr. Freezies in there. No, they didn't melt all over, but yes, she put them on my desk and there was a nice puddle of sweat, along with 3 cans of Diet Pepsi and a Gatorade that I'm sure taste wonderful warm. Ah, yes, warm caffeine jolt. Just what I need.
Keep your fingers crossed that my car will be nice and take me all the way home!

So what can I say? I'm a little A.D.D. with my layouts. I've switched back to this one, and I'm pretty sure I will keep it for awhile.
I wish I could have longer, meaningful entries... but, it's not going to happen for awhile.
I'm excited! I got into my Psychology class next semester! I was really afraid that I wasn't going to be able to get into it since I'm not an education major (yet...) but I guess being 4th on the waiting list really paid off! :)

Wow. I cannot believe how fast this year flew. I only have 4 finals and then I am done with my freshman year of college! I know I've probably said this a lot in the past few weeks, but yeah, it's insane. I don't know if I've changed much during the year... but who knows.
And I come home Tuesday for a job interview on Wednesday, so keep your fingers crossed for me!

So I was thinking about how bad this week is going to be.
Then seeing the massacre at Virginia Tech makes me think that this week is going to be tough, but I really don't have it so bad after all...

I apologize for the size of my pictures in the last entry. I know, mom already told me that I should resize them. Guess I don't think about it... then I'm too lazy to go back and fix them :P
April 11th, and we got snow. Guess I didn't get hit as hard as they did at home, we didn't even get an inch. But it made everything white again, which means everything will be muddy again once it melts. Don't get me wrong, I love snow, but just not in April!
I need to make an appointment with my adviser. I don't want to, I don't really care for the guy. But I need to figure out what classes I need to be looking at for next semester, and maybe if there's some that I can take that would cover me in English and English Education if I decide to switch. I only have 12 more Gen. Ed. credits to take, so I'm really hoping I can finish those up next semester too. Then I can concentrate on English for the rest of my life...
Well... I have an ethnography due in an hour that I wrote last night. I just reread it and it makes no sense at all. I'll see if I can work my magic. ;D

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter :)
I'm still debating the whole changing my major thing. My friend Becky said to take the summer to think it over, because she did, and now she's really happy with the decision that she made. But I don't know. And that's what I hate most in the world: not knowing. I wish someone would just tell me what to do, but I know that's not going to happen.
Well... I have homework to get done... see if I can get it done before Clare gets back.

So, I applied for a job, totally not thinking that I'd only work for like 4 more weeks, then be wanting 3 months off. I mentioned it to her, and sure enough, no job for Allison. That's something I should have thought of right away, duh. Oh well. There's no way I would be able to afford living in La Crosse only working 10-15 hours a week. I'll just have to start looking right away next semester.
Speaking of next semester, I need to figure out my classes. Me and my SNAP need to have some quality time together... and I register for classes on the 19th. I really can't believe how fast this year flew by! We registered for rooms too, I'm on the 4th floor yet again, but in a dorm with an elevator, that will be awesome on move in day!
Otherwise, not a whole lot else going on. I shall leave you with a view of my dorm from the top of the bluffs. :)

Ah, it's Wednesday... Laundry day. Ick. I don't mind doing laundry... it's just the fact that I have to drag it all the way down to the basement, and then all the way back up again. Oh well. It's good exercise. I've also decided to quit eating dessert at every meal. I've noticed that every time I eat at Whitney, I take a dessert, even if it's one that's not that great. So, I'm going to quit all together. And I'm going to start drinking skim milk instead of 2%. I know it's not much... but I figure every little bit will help!
I'm so excited for tomorrow! My friend Kayla is coming from Chicago, and I haven't seen her since Christmas! All of us Fennimore girls in La X are getting together with her, and it should be a blast! We're going out to eat, and then to a movie. So I guess I'll have to go to the ATM lol.
Time to do some homework so I don't have to do it tomorrow night! hehe.

So mom posted a video that reminded her of 5th grade. I decided to follow suite! I remember being so excited when they would randomly play this video on Disney Channel (since I wasn't allowed to watch MTV!) I don't know what's worse: remembering all the words or the fact that I was singing along with it?

Wow. I can't believe how fast this week went. And there's only 6 more weeks of classes left (7 including finals... I think?). This year just flew by. I was talking to one of the girls that I went to Mississippi with, Audra, and she's a Super (5th year) Senior. She said that if I thought Freshman Year flew by, I should just wait for all the others. And that's kind of a really scary thought...
Tonight I went to the UW-La Crosse Music Gala. It was basically all of the music ensembles here on campus performing... with the exception of Symphonic Band. I don't get why we didn't play, but whatever. It was cool... I didn't realize I knew so many people around campus! lol. But every ensemble that played, I knew at least 2 or 3 people in it.
Tomorrow we're going to hike the bluffs. I'll be sure to take my camera to get some pretty pictures of La Crosse from way up there... lol.
Well... it's almost 2 a.m... and way past Allison's bedtime. I'm off :)

Mississippi was awesome. I couldn't believe all of the damage down there though. They said it would take at least 10 years just to rebuild everything to Pre-Katrina status, and that doesn't include growth. Warning: this post is probably not dial-up safe, and I'm sorry.
There were 16 college students (ranging from 19-29) and 2 leaders that went with us. We left bright and early on Saturday morning, and stayed in West Memphis on Saturday night. We were in Ocean Springs, MS by Sunday evening. We started working Monday. We cleared a yard for a lady, who's husband was an invalid, and she wasn't able to keep up the yard herself. Most of these work pictures are not mine, I didn't trust myself with the camera at the work sites.
This was the yard that we worked on. It was covered with vines that had washed in with the flood and started growing in the yard.

The next day we gutted out a house. I think most of agreed that we should just get some gasoline and a match, but this was a historical house. It had flood damage, and the salt water shorted out the electricity and caused a fire. There was also a lot of termite damage. We basically tore the plaster off the walls.

Me... and Debbie's butt... lol.

Working hard, or hardly working?

The dumpster we filled from the house.
The church we stayed in.
These are some pictures of the damage:

We did have time to have some fun though :)

Future roomies!

Spoons! I love that game!!!!

A sample of my handwriting ;)

I wish this wouldn't have turned out blurry, I had the night setting on my camera, so it didn't work so well.

Mine! Mine!

By this time tomorrow, I'll be heading to Mississippi! I'm excited, and a little nervous at same time (because I'm weird and get nervous about stupid stuff). So I will be gone until Saturday the 17th. Kinda wish I was going home for a week, but oh well, it'll be summer before I know it.
So I hope everyone's weeks are wonderful, and don't miss me too much! lol. I'm sure I'll have plenty of pictures when I get back :)
P.S. I added a song to my blog... if you haven't listened to it yet, you should :P

I must say, I am feeling much better. I've been taking cold medicine, and it's really helping!
I can't believe how slow this week is going! I suppose since it's the week before Spring Break, and I'm really looking forward to Mississippi!
I got my iPod yesterday! I know, I splurged... a lot... but I really like it. It's nice to walk to class with (although it's really hard not to sing along with it, I will spare people's eardrums) and it will be nice for the long van rides to Mississippi.
Last night I volunteered for S.O.S (Safety on our Sidewalks). Basically, I sat there and did my homework, and waited for someone to ask for a walk. S.O.S. offers walks to anywhere on campus from the Library and the Cartwright Center to anyone who doesn't want to walk alone in the dark. We were there from 8:30-11:30, so it wasn't so bad, and I got a lot of homework done. And... if you volunteer 6 times, you get a t-shirt! I think it's a good way to volunteer, and we only had 2 walks last night, both of them our friends... lol. And S.O.S. is actually how my aunt and uncle met, how cute is that?

Ugh. I really hope I'm not getting sick. I have this sore throat, and it's not like a usual sore throat, it feels like it's much deeper in my chest. It really ended up starting last night at supper, and it got worse during my concert. I was hoping I would sleep it off, but I didn't. If I get sick, I really won't want to be in Mississippi, I'd hate backing out, but I'm sure they'd understand... but this would be a great opportunity. I still have a few days, so I guess I'll just have to see how it goes. I took some cold medicine, hopefully that'll help.
And today's the day. I have 2 Midterms (well, one is really only a quiz...) and so if I make it through today, I should be set. :)

Wow. I hate Midterm week. I have to write 1 English paper, revise another one, do a Quiz game in English, write a Soc paper, take a Music Listening midterm (which I heard was really hard), and take a Bio Lab quiz.
Talk about crazy. But as long as I can make it through this week, it'll all be good.
This weekend was way too short. I hate going home and not actually being able to hardly spend any time at home.
Well... time to go study... but oh wait, the roommate just came in the room to talk on her phone. We'll see what I can get done then.

What icky weather. It's dark outside, and every once in awhile a little snowflake floats by. We didn't get all that much snow, just enough to cover the ground and make all the sidewalks as slippery as heck. I can't count how many times I slid and almost fell.
Happy March 1st! I can't believe it's March already, and I've been in school for almost 6 weeks! Then only 8 more to go :) I've heard from a lot of people that this semester went by fast for them too, so I suppose I should enjoy it. Although it seems like just yesterday was move-in day. I think this semester is going by faster too because I'm taking classes that I actually enjoy. I should be done with all my Gen. Eds. soon, and then be able to take English classes like there's no tomorrow! Although I still have to choose a minor, I'm kinda leaning towards Sociology, but we'll see.
Let's hope when I schedule next semester's classes, I'm a little smarter. I'm not liking eating lunch at 10 a.m.

So, I always knew the squirrels here in La Crosse were a little crazy. But now that we have 2 feet of snow on the ground, they're hilarious!
And one of the funniest things you will see in life: a guy thinking he's all that, strutting along when all of a sudden he slips on some ice. He does a quick recovery, and then looks around to see who saw him. It's really very hard not to laugh at them.
Valerie. I wish I could be at La X international (I think the same thing when I hear about that!). Next year, Spring Break?

I wish my batteries wouldn't have died in my camera. The snow outside looks so pretty! I'd say we have about... 2 feet. And right now it's just showing these HUGE fluffy snowflakes... it looks awesome :)
I'm feeling better. Just up and down up and down... yeah, it sucks, but I'll hopefully get out of it soon. I think when I'm alone and I have time to think, that's when it's the worst, so I try to keep busy with my friends and such.
My weekened in Roch didn't work out so well because of the snow. We ended up coming back early yesterday morning while there was a lull in the storm. We made it safe and sound back to La X... and it really started blizzarding last night at around 8... I couldn't believe the people that still went out! I guess if you need to drink, you need to drink, but I was going to stay in and watch movies with my friends, thank you very much.
The whole reason we went to Roch was to see my friend Maria's friend Ellen perform in the pit for Beauty and the Beast. We did this as a musical last year, and I too was in pit (she plays the clarinet too!). I was so impressed by everything, they had an auditorium and a real pit, and they had violins in their pit... it was amazing. Makes me wish I had gone to a bigger school... but I liked the smallness of my high school. A lot of people can't believe when I tell them I graduated with 59... and that their class was bigger than my entire school, and their school is bigger than my entire town!
To compare the 2 productions... our costumes were way better than theirs. This Belle's dress didn't hold a candle to my friend Kayla's (who played Belle... made her own dress... picture the movie... yep, looks just like it.) But, our acting didn't hold a candle to theirs. Lumiere and Lefou were AMAZING and definitely made the play.
Hmm... Clare's phone keeps ringing. Betcha it's her boyfriend. Should I tell her? Nah. Maybe if I actually would have gotten to sleep in my own room last night, in my own bed, instead of on my friends' futon, I'd consider it. :) She'll find it eventually.
Well, that's enough of my long posts.
♥
Oh. And since I haven't been in the greatest mood lately, Valerie said in her blog to post what you're thankful for.
~My family. Even though I don't realize it all the time, I don't know what I would do without all their help and support.
~My friends. I seriously don't think I could survive anything without them... especially when I need a futon to sleep on!
~College. Even though I hate it at times, I really am blessed to have this opportunity.

I'm just in that icky mood again. I really wish it would go away. I ended up skipping IV tonight because I needed to study for Sociology (I'm taking a break before my brain explodes). And I get a call from Miranda at about 6:50 telling me that there's a mandatory meeting for the Mississippi trip all the way across campus? I'm sorry, but I need to study. And why did Erin (the organizer) not try to contact me at all? I gave her my e-mail address and told her that was the best way to contact me, and nothing from her. I told Miranda that I wasn't going to go, if she could get the information for me, and if there's anything more I need to know, Erin can call me.
I think I'm just really homesick. I mean, it's been 5 weeks since I've been home. That's my longest time away from home ever. And yeah, I'm really looking forward to this weekend and next... hopefully they'll help me take my mind off things... I really hope I get out of this rut soon. Because I pretty much just yelled at Aaron for no reason whatsoever, and UGH.

I still really can't believe that this is the 5th week of the semester already. And I have a feeling it's going to go by super fast. This weekend I'm going home with my friend Maria to Rochester. The weekend after that I'm going home to get all the things I need for Mississippi. The week after that is midterms. Then, it's Spring Break :) Mississippi, here I come :D. I'm excited, but kinda nervous at the same time. It should be a lot of fun though.
Tonight I went out to eat with my friend Amy. Her parents got her a gift certificate to Grizzly's. All I can say is... YUM. Although whenever I eat out my tummy gets upset, guess I'm used to bland Whitney food! And, I had a Pepper Jack Chicken sandwich... so so good. So much for eating healthy... I'm worse than I was 1st semester! I don't think I'm going to lose another 30 lbs.!
Well... Bio Lab report time! I'm almost done, and I'm not procrastinating this time :)
♥

P.S. Suggest some blogs for me to read? Did I ask this before? lol. Or, feel free to suggest my blog to people :P

So it's Saturday night at 10:15 and I'm sitting in my room. Everyone was going to a movie, and I didn't feel so well, so I thought I'd just chill in my room and relax. I did get out a bit though. A couple of my friends and I went to The Vagina Monologues. A girl (who I couldn't stand) from my Women's Studies class was in it, and she did a really good job. Needless to say, it was quite interesting. It had some really good points, and other parts were hilarious. But not anything you'd want to see with your parents... hehe.
Well... I think I'm going to put in a movie and crash.
♥
Allison
Oh, and give me some good blogs to read? lol... like I need another way to procrastinate :P

Because everyone else is still passed out... lol.
5 things that people don't know about me... hmmm this could be tough.
1. I fall hard and fast for any boy that's nice to me. Doesn't matter who he is or what he looks like, if he's nice to me, BAM. Because duh, why would you fall for someone who is mean to you?
2. If I'm pissed off at you, I'm not going to tell you. I will tell everyone but you. I guess you could say I don't like conflict, and want to avoid it at all costs.
3. So mom just told me these were supposed to be weird things? Haha. Ok then. I'm in band, and I'm pretty sure I'm tone deaf. That's 6+ years of pretending I knew when I was in tune, praying that I really was.
4. I'm a college freshman sitting in my dorm room watching Veggie Tales. 'Nuff said. Italian Scallion... hahahahahahaha.
5. I hate the phone. Well, more like I hate calling people. Guess I've had a few experiences with the wrong number, and I'm paranoid like that.
Ok, so the first 2 weren't so weird. But the last 3 were! lol.
So, tell me this. Why would you get sick in the sink, when you had to walk past 3 toilets to get to said sink? Crazy drunk people. I hope I have enough sense to never get that drunk... lol.
Although La X is trying to pass this public intoxication ordinance, which I think is absolutely ridiculous. It basically says that if a cop sees you, and he thinks you're drunk, he can give you a ticket without giving you a breathalizer. Even if you're not drunk, and request one, he still doesn't have to give it to you before he gives you a ticket. Which I think is stupid. Even though I don't drink, I still think this is a violation. You should be innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. Because even if you're not drinking, you can only get your ticket reduced so much. But I'm assuming you have to be obviously drunk before they do anything. If stupid people would learn how to stay away from the river...
Hmm... not much more to update on. Guess I'll see if I can get some homework done before everyone else wakes up.

But the last 3 were! lol.

4 weeks down. 3 to go. I can't believe how fast this semester is flying by! I have my first bio exam next week, so that should be interesting. I'll just have to get out of this room to study. I'm really hoping this semester will be the one that brings my GPA back up, and hopefully sometime I'll retake Pre-Calc.
So, you've all seen the Princess Diaries, right? Well, the other day I pulled a Princess Mia. No, I didn't get sick in front of my class while giving my speech. But, I was combing my hair and it got stuck on a snarl, and SNAP! Yep, I broke my comb. It was quite funny... who knew my hair was that bad? haha... but now I don't have a comb... lol.
Next weekend I will be traveling with my lovely friend Maria to Rochester to see their musical (plus, one of Clare's friends is coming up, good reason for me to leave!). And I was put on the probably list for Mississippi, so I can't back out now! Let's hope everything goes alright!
Also I may get to go to Jr. High Convo!! I went to that 2 years, and then I went to Sr. High Convo for 3 years in high school and I always had so much fun. There's a local church here that's looking for chaperones, and she said if I let her know by March 1st, there was a good probability that I would get to go for free! So that's another thing I'll have to be thinking about. She also said their church is looking for a new youth paster... which would be AMAZING, but I don't think I'm ready for that yet.
Well, I have to go finish Sociology. I'm leaning towards a sociology minor, so we'll have to see how this class goes!

Allison got a Valentine from a boy!!!!
Ok fine. Everyone in our cube got a Valentine from a boy. But still. Makes me feel special anyways!
No mom, I didn't wear my sandals tonight. Good old tennies! We went to Tequila... an amazing Mexican restaurant that is very cheap! It was so much fun, but I always fill up on chips & salsa! And I guess it wasn't just us single ladies, it was a girls night out :)
Valarie, band is going amazingly well! We have a concert in about a month that I am really looking forward to! The music is really easy, and I didn't realize how much I missed it all!

Owwwie. I have a HUGE canker sore in my mouth. I'm thinking I stabbed my gums when I was trying to brush my teeth Friday night. Hm, yeah, don't ask. But it just feels like a canker sore. I'm not really looking forward to having to play in band with it. Hmm... maybe it's a good thing I don't have a Valentine? lol.
My friend Mel asked me if I wanted to go out to eat on Tuesday night. I guess us single ladies are getting all dolled up, hopping on the public transportation, and going somewhere to eat. Good thing I brought back my black pants, although I don't think I have any shoes... :(. The ones I do have could be a little chilly, and they probably wouldn't be too good considering how slushy it is around here.
I knew the homework would start piling up! Tonight I have to write a paper for English, 2 papers for Spanish (well, technically I only have to write one... I want to get a start on the other one, and read for English. My goal is to have it all done by 8 so I can go chill in the triple! I attempted to do homework down there last night, and it didn't work so well.
Hmmm... not much new I don't think. I'm still debating the Mississippi trip, we'll see how much more information I get.
Well, I think I'm going to go do my dishes quick before band. Hope everyone is doing well :)

So... I feel much better than I did last week. I don't know what was wrong with me, guess I was just a little bit down in the dumps.
I can't believe 3 weeks has gone by already. That means only 4 left until Spring Break! I still don't know about going to Mississippi, I don't have a whole lot of information about it yet. So if I don't hear anything in about a week, I don't know if I still want to go.
Well, I have a headache, so I think I'm going to go lay down to see if I can get rid of it...

Aaron and Liz came up to visit me this weekend. I felt bad, it was so cold out and we really didn't do anything. We did drive out to Onalaska and go shopping though, which was nice. I really liked having a car! Especially for church this morning, then we didn't have to worry about sneaking out early to catch the bus or walking back to campus.
Not a whole lot going on exciting lately. I guess I'm waiting for the homework to start piling on. I haven't had a whole lot, and frankly, it's scaring me. Because I know it's going to start soon. 2 weeks down, 5 to go until midterm. And Spring Break! I'm thinking about going to Mississippi during Spring Break for a mission trip, to do Katrina Relief. It would be all paid for, I could get a scholarship. But, we'd go from Saturday-Saturday, meaning I wouldn't get to go home at all. Which, wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. I think I could make it not going home. But it would be nice to. Who knows. I guess I have a while to think about it.
I want a boyfriend. My friends and their boyfriends make me jealous... lol.
